In Nigeria, you register your trademark - a name, logo, slogan, domain name, shape, colour or sound - with the Commercial Law department of Ministry of Trade and Investment by taking the following steps:
1. Engage an Attorney/Agent accredited for trade marks.
2. Provide your following Applicant's details:
Full name(s), nationality and physical address.
3. Execute a Power of Attorney/Authorization of Agent.
4. Once filed, you will be given an acknowledgement with a filing date.
5. When approved, it will be published in the trade journal for 2 months to allow for public notice or protest.
6. In the absence of any protest, you will be awarded your certificate of registration bearing that initial filing date in your acknowledgement as the date of commencement of your copyright.
This initial registration is for 7years. Later renewable for 14 years.
