As the CJN gets suspended

Nigerians have expressed different reactions to the news of the suspension of  the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen.

In an  unprecedented move just yesterday, the presidency acting on an ex-parte order of the Code of Conduct Tribunal announced on Twitter the suspension of Justice Onnoghen and the swearing in of Justice Tanko Muhammad as Acting CJN.

The disturbing twist in this development is that the constitution while providing the steps for removal of the CJN is silent on suspension.

This has led many Nigerians to say the suspension is unconstitutional and others calling the situation a constitutional crisis.
