Is it Okay to Kiss your Son or Daughter on the Lips?

Remember when David Beckham  posted a picture of and him and his daughter,  Harper, kissing on the lips and the internet went into a frenzy? So, is it okay to kiss your kids on the lips?
According to child development specialist, Brittany Macabe, on the family education platform, people have different viewpoints. While for some people it is just a way of showing affection between two human beings other people see it as a big deal with sexual undertones. We should objectively consider cold hard  facts and let science lead the way, however, she says.

What happens when two people kiss? Our bodies release feel  good chemicals, serotonin, dopamine
And oxytocin. These chemicals strengthen bond and attachment the same way they do when a mother breast feeds a baby. Secondly, stress hormone, cortisol, levels are lowered in the body - helping people with stress and anxiety. Lastly, and equally important, blood pressure is lowered in a good way.

These findings apply to even  non-romantic kissing.

Ultimately, she argues, It seems though that the home or environment one grew up in plays a vital role in how one views kissing. if you grew up in a home where there was lots of touching kissing and uber display of affection you would likely see the case of a parent and a child kissing on the lips as nothing more than a show of affection without any undertones. On the other hand, if you grew up in a home where touching and kissing were rare and restricted, you are likely to view such display of affection as inappropriate.

So what do you think, would you kiss your little son or daughter on the lips?
