The CJN's trial continues

According to news reports reaching us, around 20 SANs and 100 other lawyers gathered at the CCT in solidarity with the Chief Justice of Nigeria as his trial for none or false assets declaration resumes today. You would recall that the trial stalled last week because the charges seemed to have been served on his PA instead of the CJN personally.

So the Code of Conduct Tribunal resumes to hear the case today but the CJN is conspicously absent like before. Thisdaylive reports that there are hundreds of CUPP protesters outside the CCT venue in Abuja. They are carrying placards with the messages saying that the CJN trial is unconstitutional and naming Akpabio, Amaechi, El-Rufai and AGF Malami as the brains behind the trial.

Meanwhile, security is seriously fortified at the venue with the police being assisted by the DSS both outside and inside the gates of the CCT. Those who have no business inside the courtroom are allegedly being turned back at the gate.
