Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Nigeria’s former Finance Minister is likely to emerge the first African and female Director General of the World Trade Organization(WTO).
Dr. Ngozi is poised for victory in the contest over her South Korean rival, Ms Yoo Myung-hee, by a wide margin as she received the backing of the troika (three WTO Ambassadors charged with ffinding successor) today. Her victory is expected to be announced formally by the WTO soon.
