The nine students of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, who were abducted six days ago along the Kaduna-Abuja highway have regained their freedom, after their families paid ransom to the bandits.
The bandits, had earlier demanded 30 million each as a ransom for each student, but after negotiations, settled for unequal amounts from families of the kidnapped. One of the relatives of the students, while narrating how they met up with the bandits at a bush in Maru village, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, to pay the ransom revealed that, they met with security agents who were patrolling the area while on their way. "The security agents asked us where we were going to because it was late at night. We told them we were on our way to pay ransom for the release of our relatives and the security agents wished us good luck,” he said.
