Babatunde Fowler, the former chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service ( FIRS), has appeared before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)today at the Zonal office in Lagos. The EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed this on Monday without revealing the reason for Mr Fowler’s summon.
Mr Fowler, who earlier served as the first Lagos State Internal Revenue Service chairman for eight years, was relieved of his job as the FIRS boss December last year by President Muhammadu Buhari. Fowler was queried over insufficient tax collection since 2015 and replaced with Muhammad Nami, a tax consultant, of the tax agency.
