Jack Dorsey, Twitter founder, sells his first ever tweet for $2.9m

Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter  has sold a digital certificate connected to the  first ever tweet he made on his platform for $2.9m, as a non-fungible token (NFT).

The digital certificate was purchased in an auction by Sina Estavi, a Malaysia-based entrepreneur, who said, "years later people will realise the true value of this tweet, like the Mona Lisa painting". Jack said the funds raised from the sale of the tweet are being donated to a charity supporting the coronavirus response in Africa, minus a 5% processing fee going to the auctioning platform.
