Hadiza Bala Usman denies allegation of financial misappropriation

Hadiza Bala Usman, the embattled managing director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has refuted the allegations that she failed to remit the operating surplus of the NPA to the consolidated revenue fund (CFR), a reason why she was suspended.

The Cable reports that she said that contrary to the figures given by the budget office as outstanding operating surplus, the NPA had remitted all that was due to the CFR — as stipulated in the fiscal responsibility act of 2007.

But her letter came in too late and the cold war between her and Rotimi Amaechi, the minister of transportation who supervises NPA, was already so bad that he had already written the Presidency to report her. She was then suspended.
