Current Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), Antonio Guterres has just been re-elected by Acclamation as he was the only candidate. The former prime minister of Portugal, his home country, was watched by the country’s current president, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who was in the Assembly Chamber to witness the event.
The Portuguese Politician has been serving as Secretary-General since 2017 and is the ninth Secretary-General of the United Nations. Now he has five more years to go.
