How Police ICT Unit tracked Chidinma Ojukwu, the alleged killer of Super TV's CEO





Men of the Lagos State Police Command have been commended on the arrest of Chidinma Ojukwu, the 21-year-old student of the University of Lagos, who allegedly stabbed the CEOof Super TV, Michael Usifo Ataga, to death in the Lekki , Lagos.

A statement on Friday, showed that the Command adopted a “scientific method” to arrest the suspect after tracking the different SIM cards she used, both Nigerian and foreign ones. 

A recently established ICT/Tracking Unit at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba-Lagos was behind the success of the arrest. The unit has a mandate to adopt scientific and forensic measures of unravelling crimes and criminality in Lagos State.

Items recovered from the suspect include, “Complimentary cards, Access Bank Statement of Account, one Nigerian Passport with No.B50010434 belonging to the suspect, one fake Drivers license bearing Mary Johnson with the suspect’s photograph, one National Identification Card bearing the suspect’s name, one UBA ATM debit card bearing the suspect’s name and one University of Lagos ID card bearing the suspect’s name.”


Chidinma Ojukwu had been in a romantic relationship with Ataga for about four months before he allegedly had sex with her forcefully and the ugly incident occurred. She confessed that when an argument broke out between them after using some hard drugs, she stabbed him twice and left him bleeding in the apartment. After which she withdrew N380,000 from his account using his ATM card.

Ataga was the billionaire Chief Executive Officer of Super TV and a director in Super Network Limited, a telecoms firm. He was said to be married to a manager in Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC. He met Chidinma Ojukwu about four months ago and they began a romantic relationship. 

Ataga who resides in Banana Island was reported missing on Sunday by concerned friends and family after all efforts to reach him proved abortive. His deceased corpse was discovered in a Shirt Service flat in Lekki Phase 1 with many stab wounds after several withdrawals  to the tune of N5million from his account were made until GTBank became aware.

He was last seen alive in a rented Airbnb flat in Lekki, Lagos where they both checked into before the unfortunate incident. Usifo who would have been 50 years old this year.
