COVID-19: up to 610 new cases reported in Nigeria, Lagos records 42 deaths in one week

The breakdown according to states of the 610 new infections are

Lagos 281, Rivers 152, Akwa Ibom 85, Ogun 21, Oyo 21, Ekiti 14, Abuja 13,  Delta 7, Edo 6, Ondo 4, Bayelsa 2, Plateau 2, Kano 2.

The Phase Two of vaccination of Nigerians has been announced by the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) to commence August 16. Nigeria has also received 176,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson's COVID-19 Vaccine said to be safe as well as effective against the new and deadlier Delta variant.

Meanwhile, Lagos State has reported the death of 42 persons from COVID-19 related complications.
