A 40-year-old married man identified as Nicodemus Nomyange had set himself and his girlfriend Shininenge Pam, ablaze in Inikpi street, Makurdi Benue State, on Saturday, November 14, with reasons for his actions not disclosed, but report has now revealed why he did it.
The Nation reported that Nomyange has been dating Pam for some time and Nomyange, who is married with children had proposed to marry Pam. According to sources, Pam turned him down on the basis that she preferred to marry a single and not married man. Nomyange who was apparently hurt following rejection by Pam, proceeded to her apartment on Saturday evening and set it ablaze after locking everyone inside. The lovers got burnt despite intervention made by neighbours to save them from the fire.
