Electronic Transmission of Election Results returned to the Electoral Act Amendment Bill

Thisday reports that the Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),yesterday,  returned the clause on electronic transmission of results to the draft of the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill 2021 after the National Assem­bly faced strong criticisms over attempts to  remove it from the bill. The last draft of the Bill contained provisions that election results must continue to be transmitted manually which was different from what was earlier agreed to by the committees of the two chambers of the National Assembly.

The Committee took the decision to return electronic transmission of results to the amendment bill at an emergency meeting in Abuja.
