On Monday in a statement released in Abuja, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) announced a shakeup in senior management staff. The shakeup involved former General Managers and Chief Operating Officers re-designated as Group Executive Directors. The NNPC Management said the move became necessary to meet the requirements of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) and to reposition the corporation as a limited liability comapany after the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB). One Chief Operating Officer, Yusuf Usman, was however sacked from his position. The Group Managing Director, Mele Kyari, said the shakeup will make NNPC meet Nigerians' expectations and become a world-class company.
