Sunday Service!! Visiting Church of Christ, Phase IV Kubwa.

This is a fair view of the order of Sunday service of the Church of Christ.

Sunday service starts with a light prayer while instrumental music plays in the background. Then praises are sang to exhort your soul. On this particular Sunday, there was a special prayer for Nigeria asking God to put confusion in the midst of any wicked counsel formed against the interest of our country. Then it's testimony time and we learnt that a bouncing baby boy has been born to the family of Mr & Mrs Lawal.
There are only male ushers. And members of the congregation are very eager to share their hymn book -Songs of the Church. You can easily get a pen to jot with when you ask an usher.
Like most christian churches do, they collect tithe as well as rotate their preachers.
Bro Uzoma Onyekachi gave the sermon titled "Judge Yourself" (1 Cor 11:13a.)
For the alter call (Call to Christ), if you accept and come out, you would be asked to say your name and publicly confess Jesus Christ as the Son of God. Then you will be led away to be baptised in the inner room (batistry).
Collection of the Saints is the Sunday Collection and is preceeded by a brief exhortation to give generously.
Holy communion is for members as only those baptised into d body of Christ are encouraged to partake in it. Next, is announcements & announcements. Including birthday wishes and the cutting of cakes.
The 9am service closes around 12noon.
***Sunday Service Series: what to expect when you're visiting your neighbour's church for the 1st time!

  1. ...dear reporter many thks for yr interest in the church of Christ...i only just wish to use this medium to correct some impressions about yr write-up.... first of all, the church of Christ is not a denomination hence it has it's headquarters in Heaven...2ndly, the church does not use instrumental music in worship but accapela music as no such practice is evident in new testament church...what yr correspondence probably heard was accapella song played via pbs prior to commencement of service proper... 3rdly the male only ushers yr reporters saw was in line with scriptures that only women cannot take the lead in church worship when men are available...1Tim2.8-9...4thly, preachers are not rotated as reported, but all baptised men are eligible to take part in the 5 items of worship prescribed in the bible....lastly cutting of cakes and b/day wishes are not necessarily a permanent feature of the church announcement....thanks and God Bless....
