Following the suspected cases of Meningitis in Kubwa last month, FCTA trains 24 officers on Disease Surveillance. Dr Humphrey Okoroukwu, the Director of Public Health in Health and Human Services Secretariat in the FCT, made this known in an interview in Abuja.

The training was centred on epidemic prone diseases such as meningitis, measles and Lassa fever etc and was anchored by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The director disclosed that plan was on to train 62 focal persons from political wards on disease surveillance in the phase II of the programme, adding that Community Key Informants would also benefit from the training. He said that such training would now be on a continuous basis; to be conducted in the FCT annually.
