State of the Nation: Nepotism is Corruption - says Obasanjo to Presidency




Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo on a global stage in Moscow made it known that nepotism is a form of corruption and as long as Nigerian leaders only think of corruption in terms of money, goods and services, they delude themselves. In his words, " Nepotism is a form of corruption and condoning what is bad is a height of corruption. Lack of fiscal discipline is corruption. So, corruption and development cannot meet. You must eschew corruption to make sure that you make significant progress". He also blamed the Federal Government for the delay in ratifying the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) although the Presidency had blamed the delay on ongoing renegotiation. CBN  offers loan to NYSC members repayable in 7 years 


Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria made this known when the DG of the Nigerian Youth Service Corps visited his office. It is a bid to reduce the unemployment rate in the country. The NYSC members will attend skills training workshops at the end of which they will receive the 7-year loan with a 2 year moratorium. This project replicates the Youth Entrepreneurship Development programme launched earlier in 2016. Read it at thePunch.



The Federal Government places restrictions on the use of Sniper 



In response to the rising rate of suicide among Nigerian youths, the FG has issued a directive to NAFDAC to ensure that all agrochemical dealers and all other stakeholders remove sniper from all open markets and supermarkets with immediate effect. NAFDAC’s director of  Veterinary Medicine and Allied Products Directorate, Dr Bukar Usman, stated this at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan. The focus is especially on the 100ml bottle. Sniper is in fact an agro-cultural product meant for use in farms and not in households. Read it at NAN.

Gorilla Swallows N6.8Million of Kano State's Zoo Money

As you know, just last year a claim was made by its staff that millions belonging to JAMB was swallowed by a snake. Now a gorilla at the Kano Zoological Gardens is being accused of ‘swallowing‘ N6.8 million cash. The money was realized from gate takings during last week’s Eid el Fitri. Read it at Pmnews.



Rochas Okorocha Returned as Senator at last 


Former governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, has been finally sworn in as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He received his certificate of return from INEC as well. Omo-Agege Elected Deputy Senate President over Ekweremadu
