According to Mr. John Gabbaya the Chairman of Bwari Area Council, comprising of Kubwa, Dutse, Deidei, Zuma and environs, atleast six persons have been kidnapped with three of them kidnapped within the first three days of this year. He made this known while talking to newsmen about the undisclosed sum the families of the victims contributed to free them. One of the victims was 26 year old, Josephine Danlami, financial secretary of Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA)
Media aide to the FCT Minister, Austin Eluemue confirmed that security agencies are handling the incidents. Several arrests were made around the yuletide period last year involving armed robbers, shop-breaking and property theft in order to check the crime wave usually associated with the season.
