Lagos residents break into government warehouse, cart away food items meant for COVID-19 palliatives

The Government warehouse at Mazamaza area of Lagos State was broken into by Lagos residents, on Thursday, looting food items worth millions of naira. Items carted away included bags of rice, beans, garri, maize and cartons of noodles.

The warehouse is among several others where COVID-19 palliatives were kept and are yet to be distributed. The angry residents, who got wind that COVID-19 palliatives were kept there, stormed the place around noon on Thursday and started carting all they could carry. It appears that some who looked like armed urchins later attempted to attack Satellite Police Station on Old Ojo Road, but were repelled by the police, assisted by youths of the area.
