Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State, has said that N150 billion is enough for Nigeria to procure COVID-19 vaccines, says the N400bn budgeted by the Federal Government for the vaccines can be reduced if he is allowed to procure the vaccines for the country.
Mr Obi explained that since vaccinating 70% of the country's population is enough, and Nigeria will be getting free vaccines from World Health Organisation (WHO) and others, then N400bn is too much since the vaccine goes for $2 each. He furthered stated he is willing to go and negotiate purchase of the vaccine from India at N150 billion, which he said is enough. The Federal Government had on December 2020 said N400 billion is needed for COVID-19 vaccines.
