Our client, a group of companies (Logistics, Transportation, and Aviation), seeks to hire a *Head of Legal*

 

Location: Lagos

 

Pay: Very Attractive

 

 

*JOB PURPOSE*

The Head, Legal provides leadership to the legal department and across the entire business, and is accountable for legal and risk management operations. This role includes providing business-focused advice to the organization and acting as a mentor to critical legal department personnel while representing the department during management and executive gatherings.

 

*JOB FUNCTIONS*

lAnalyze and identify the legal risks and implications of transactions within the organization while informing management of new developments across the board.

lImplements initiatives and sets standards that reinforce ethical culture within the organization.

lProvides strategic and operational guidance, aiding in litigation issues such as contract disputes and matters affecting departmental transactions.

lPrepare, review and advise on contract documents and other documents that require legal attention and guidance.  

lCollaborate with other departmental Heads, ensuring productive systems in place relating to compliance of high impact policies such as anti-bribery and corruption, financial transaction compliance, etc.

lRepresent the organization or department as required in relevant legal cases, attend court when necessary & liaison with advocates, etc.

lPrepare and deliver monthly and quarterly reports for the legal department for management meetings to maintain integrity within the business.

lResponsible for securing business operations compliance with relevant regulatory bodies and litigation, legal notices, keeping records of all licenses, and all litigation matters.

 

 

*QUALIFICATION*

l Bachelor's Degree in Law with strong academic credentials. Masters in Law will be an added advantage.

lA minimum of 22years corporate legal experience with a proven track record is required.

lExperience in the Aviation industry will be an added advantage.

lSolid legal experience in corporate and commercial matters

lRequires litigation skills to handle administrative procedures within public authorities.

lAble to remedy complex legal issues without inviting the services of external legal advice.
