Why insecurity persists in Nigeria - NLC President

The President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba, says that insecurity persists in the country because of the nonchalant attitude of Nigeria's leaders, especially the Kaduna State Governor. He pointed out that with N50.7 billion Internally Generated Revenue of the state in 2020 alone, Governor ElRufai cannot claim to lack funds to pay minimum wage of just N30, 000 and will go fown in history as someone who trampled upon the dignity of the Nigerian workers.

Wabba also said: “It’s not surprising that today collective bargaining agreements are not respected, meanwhile there is nowhere in the world where such things obtain, for the working class in Nigeria, I am pained to say that it is not yet Uhuru." He cited the devaluation of naira which has affected workers most as another reason for the current worsening situation of workers.
