PDP: Secondus saved, party to hold an early national convention in October

The national chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, appear to have been saved twice at the latest stakeholders meeting on Tuesday. In a meeting for the resolution of the crisis facing the party, a move to stop him from re-contesting at the Party's national convention was stopped as well as moves to force him to resign. Following the tension generated by the loss of several members and leaders to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), it took the intervention of the party's elders to save the day by moving their national convention closer to October in order not to disgrace Secondus out of office at the same time acknowledging that some members can't wait to see him removes as national chairman. The early national convention might not be feasible though due to PDP's current E-registration challenge to reach 40 million members.
