Two Men Arraigned in court in Phase 4, Kubwa over Alleged Armed Robbery Using Toy Guns


Joshua Madalla, 39 and Julius John, 28 were before Justice Bello Kawu  on Tuesday in the FCT High Court in Kubwa for conspiracy and armed robbery offences.  They, however, pleaded not guilty.


According to the Prosecutor, Lorrita Ogu, the accused persons conspired with some of their gang members now at large armed with toy guns on March 29, 2014 to commit the offences of conspircy and armed robbery. They tried to forcefully snatch a Toyota Camry car from one Abdullahi Zakeri, thereby contravening Sections 6 (b) and 2 (3) of the Robbery and Firearms Act.


The lawyer to the accused persons asked for bail on their behalf on the grounds that they have been in prison in Kuje since 2014 and one of them lost his wife and son while were on a trip to visit him in prison and sick with malaria, respectively. The Prosecutor replied that she was not aware of the bail application and is not in a position to respond to it immediately.


The judge adjourned the matter until July 12, 2018 for ruling while the accused persons were taken back to prison.
