Why Onnoghen Resigned with Immediate Effect

According to Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, lawyer to the embattled Chief Justice Onnoghen, his client is resigning from the office of the Chief Justice of Nigeria "in the interest of the judiciary".

The SAN also confirmed to the press that his client resigned last Thursday, following the  decision of the NJC that the suspended CJN be compulsorily retired being communicated to the president.

Thus seems that the resignation is with immediate effect in order to preempt the intended retirement. Although there are those who argue that If he had resigned earlier, the whole world would have concluded that he was a thief. But by fighting, he cleared that bad allegation. He is leaving with his honour intact. The whole world now know that he was a victim of political and ethnographic considerations.

What do you think?
