Taxpayers to get Tax Clearance Certificates in 2020 from today

In order to ease difficulties encountered in the issuance of Tax Clearance Certificates (TCC) in 2020, the new FIRS Executive Chairman, Muhammad Nami, in a public notice has ordered that TCC be issued quickly to all eligible taxpayers from today 2nd January to 31st January, 2020 in a special 30-day window. 

This will help eligible taxpayers obtain their TCC on time to conduct businesses (like bid for contracts) for the new year in line with section 101(1) of the Companies Income Tax Act. The Executive Chairman warns, however, that any taxpayer who takes advantage of this opportunity to mislead the agency to issue a TCC shall be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
