A Premium Times check has revealed that the cause of the skyrocketing price of Onions in Nigeria is as a result of Soaring demands, flooding and poor storage facilties.
Households in Nigeria are currently spending more than normal to buy onions, one of the most commonly consumed vegetables in the country as prices have risen sharply due to a biting shortage. Consumers have taken to social media to trade complaints about the surging prices, comparing price rates in different regions of the country. Report from an onions seller reveals that a bag of Onions is currently sold at 58,000, compared to the previous price of 18,000.
