The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos State, Mr. Olukayode Popoola, has lamented the disruptive activities of ‘Area Boys’ who sometimes open the closed section of the Third Mainland Bridge to traffic, endangering the safety of Motorists. He said the actions of the Area boys have delayed construction works on the Third Mainland bridge for some days now which will lead to it's closure during the Christmas public holiday.
Mr Popoola said that the planned two-day repairs shutdown of the Third Mainland Bridge had to be postponed because of the buildup to the Yuletide. “We were advised to leave it till next week, during the public holiday, maybe we will do the total closure, then, we will be able to cast the three expansion joints as planned. He added that security had been beefed up to nip the actions of the 'Area boys.'
