Two months after it finally implemented a much opposed hike in November 2020, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has reportedly approved a hike in electricity tariff of customers of the 11 Distribution Companies (DisCos) by over 50 percent.
This is effective from January 1, 2021 to June of same year when a further increase is envisaged. And it is applicable to all customers unlike the last hike that gave some discounts and exempted customers getting 12 hours of power or less.
