Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, announced Balarabe Ilelah’s appointment in a statement in Abuja on Friday. Mr Ilelah an ex-journalist with the BBC World Service, replaces Modibbo Kawu, the former DG who was suspended 15 months ago. Armstrong Idachaba was the acting DG until this appointment and made the controversial order directing all social media platforms to apply for broadcast license.
