Group of women residents are fixing Byahzin Across access road without waiting for government

Some women resident in Byahzin Across are repairing the dilapidated access road to the community which has been bad for several years leading to many accidents. According to a member of the group, Mrs. Khadijat Kosoko, the project started in 2019 when they decided to fix the access road themselves without waiting for Bwari Area Council or the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) who had ignored the place for years. They started with filling potholes and a man saw them offering to help with financial assistance making them decide to fix the whole road with cement, stones and sand.

Mrs Bola Shitta, a.k.a. Mama Kpomo, the group leader said they had been insulted and cheated by some people and really commends the diligent women who volunteered for the project. “By the grace of God, if the government does not intervene or assist us, we will keep on doing the good work. We will go beyond this place and take the project further,” she said.  They intend to continue even beyond their immediate community following the money raised from sympathisers.
