Senate Minority Caucus kick against Lauretta Onochie's nomination for being partisan



Following President Muhammudu Buhari's nomination of Lauretta Onochie, his special assistant on social media, as National Electoral Commissioner for Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Senate Minority Caucus has kicked against the nomination, citing her as a card-carrying party member.

Enyinnaya Abaribe, Senate Minority Leader, in a short statement said by nominating his aide, President Buhari has “willfully gone against the constitution according to “Item F, paragraph 14 of the Third Schedule of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) forbids a card carrying member of a political party to be a member of INEC". He urged the President to withdraw the nomination.
